Frequently Asked Questions

Ordering

Do you carry sheets longer than 12 feet?

Yes, Many of our sheet products come directly from the manufacturer in 38- or 48-foot lengths. Sheets can be cut to various custom lengths based on your project’s needs. The longest sheet that we will ship is 24 feet in length.

What is the standard width of your sheets?

Agrilite PVC sheets: 38″. Corrugated polycarbonate sheets: 50″. Multiwall polycarbonate sheets: 48″ and 72″. Special size widths are available by custom order.

What is the standard turnaround?

Our standard turnaround time for processing online orders is 48 hours plus transit time. (The overall turnaround is typically 3-5 business days.)

How are your products shipped?

All sheet products will ship via a freight carrier due to the weight and size of the product. Anything over 8 feet in length or 150 total pounds will typically ship via ABF Freight, our preferred carrier. Products less than 8 feet in length or less than 150 pounds will typically ship via UPS Ground.

Shipping is calculated on a per order basis as determined by the total weight of all products in the cart and by the location to which the products are being delivered. All sheet products and related accessories are typically shipped in a custom-built wooden crate to ensure safe transportation. The fee for the crate is $17.00/linear foot.

Cutting and Installing

How do you cut the sheets on site?

For cutting multiwall polycarbonate sheets, use a circular saw with a fine tooth blade that has at least 10 teeth per inch. We recommend the Diablo blade. (The key features to look for are: Teeth – 84 TCG on a 10″ blade, Max 7000 rpm, Triple chip design, 5 degree hook angle, .098″ kerf.)

For cutting corrugated polycarbonate sheets, use a circular saw as well, but at a high speed with a low advance rate. use a jigsaw or metal cutting sheers for curved cutting.

Can the sheets be walked on?

No. Even though polycarbonate is virtually unbreakable, these sheets are not intended to bear the weight of a person. We recommend using a ladder to install sheets or laying boards over the sheets to create a path for walking or crawling while installing.

Do I have to pre-drill my screw holes?

Yes! This is a very important step in the installation process and should not be skipped because polycarbonate sheets need space to expand or contract with temperature change. If holes are not predrilled, sheets may crack around the screw.

My profile is tight and not sliding onto the polycarbonate sheet easily. What can I do?

If you are having difficulty applying polycarbonate profiles, try squirting a mild dish soap along the sheet’s edge. Try snapping or pushing the profile onto the side of the sheet versus sliding it along the sheet’s edge. You can also use a plastic putty knife to gently pry apart the profile opening if it is tight. Do not use Vaseline or WD-40 to assist with applying the profile to the sheet.

Can I use nails to fasten my sheets?

No! It is not recommended to use nails because there is a greater chance of damaging the sheet. Using the correct screws and washers for your particular application will allow the sheets to expand or contract with changing weather conditions and will help prevent the sheets from warping.

If I am using polycarbonate or aluminum U-profiles, do I need tape?

If you are using polycarbonate U-profiles, it is recommended to tape the ends of your sheet first before applying the U-profile. If you are using aluminum U-profiles, it is not necessary to tape the ends of your sheet. Make sure to drill weep holes for proper drainage of water condensation!

What adhesives should be used with HDPE?

Using an adhesive is not advised. Instead, mechanical fastening with screws is recommended. Plastic plugs and join rims are available and may be special ordered from the manufacturer. Welding two pieces together is another option. However, test on a scrap piece first.

NOTE: If an adhesive is necessary, you can use a product called Chem-Set™ 6105 Polyolefin Bonder, Lord 7542-AB, or 3M’s Scotch-Weld DP-8005. Duralight Plastics does not represent these products or make any claims about their abilities or accept liability for them.

Products

What is “Dripgard”?

Dripgard is a proprietary coating on the interior surface of the sheet that helps to prevent the formation of moisture condensation.

What products will keep heat out?

All multiwall and corrugated sheets have either one- or two-sided UV protection, however the color impacts the amount of heat that is blocked. Clear sheets allow more heat and light to come through while more opaque colors, such as white and opal, reflect heat better.

How do you clean the sheets?

You can use most mild household detergents with a soft cloth. It is not recommended to use abrasive cleaning solutions or a glass window cleaner as the chemicals in these products can wear away the protective coating on the sheet’s surface.

What are weep holes and are they needed for my U-profiles?

Yes, weep holes must be drilled into the bottom edge of both polycarbonate and aluminum u-profiles so that moisture condensation has a way to drain out.

What is the difference between foam and plastic closure strips?

Foam closure strips help to create a better seal while plastic closure strips prevent over drilling.

Are ChamClad PVC panels scratch and graffiti resistant?

Yes, ChamClad panels have undergone rigorous performance testing for resistance to graffiti and scratches. There are two layers protecting the film before it reaches the color layer. The PVDF layer on the topmost of the film is a transparent layer that is easy to clean, scratch resistant, and has anti-graffiti properties that are similar to Teflon. In addition, the PMMA layer under it is also a transparent acrylic layer that is weather resistant and durable.

What do I use to clean my DuxxBak Decking product?

Corte* Clean is an earth-friendly cleaning product that is used to fight tough stains in addition to helping to eliminate any unwanted mold and mildew that may appear on the surface of your deck. Any mild household cleaner can be used to remove stains.

Using a power washer yearly will help remove any surface stains that may accumulate over time from regular deck usage. A wire brush may be used to remove scratches and tough stains. Using a wire brush may change the appearance of the deck product where the wire brush was used.

How should I fasten my DuxxBak deck boards?

Please reference the specific product install guidelines document for a fastener chart and additional information.

Do my DuxxBak composite decking boards need to be spaced?

Proper gapping must be provided throughout the deck installation. A gap of 1/8″ should be provided where the deck board meets a wall and a 3/16″ gap should be provided where the deck board meets a post or other object.

A 1/32″ gap should be provided between T&G boards.

A 3/16″ gap should be provided between S4S boards.

Can I use salt to remove ice from my DuxxBak decking products?

It is safe to use ice removal products such as sodium chloride and calcium chloride on DuxxBakDecking products. When the ice melts after using salt, there may be a white residue that remains on the deck. This residue can be removed with a light cleaning or naturally with a rain shower.

Do not use a metal shovel on DuxxBak Decking products. Instead, use a plastic shovel to remove any snow to prevent potential damage to the product.
